Ange Postecoglou Supports Tottenham Players In The Midst Of Pressure Ahead Of Manchester United's Opponents

Tottenham Hotspur will host Manchester United in the 25th week of the 2024/2025 Premier League, Sunday, February 16, 2025, WIB night.

Ahead of the important party, the pressure on Spurs rose. You see, Ange Postecoglou's troops had just been eliminated in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, just before meeting the Red Devils.

Spurs lost 1-2 to Aston Villa in the FA Cup Fourth Round on Monday, February 10, 2025, after being knocked out of the Carabao Cup semifinals for losing 1-4 on aggregate to Liverpool on Friday, February 7, 2025.

The collapse of Spurs' journey in the domestic cup event made the prospects for this season without a trophy strengthen again.

This is the condition of Ange Postecoglou's manager facing his biggest crisis as long as he is at the Spurs club.

You see, in the Premier League, it is unlikely that Tottenham will be able to win the competition. No wonder, the match against Ruben Amorim's troops is targeted to win to move up from 14th place as well as restore public trust.

Postecoglou was reluctant to give up. He again pointed to a busy schedule as the culprit of his squad not optimally due to a storm of injuries.

Even so, the Australian coach believes Tottenham will be stronger in the future with more players coming back from the treatment room.

"This team of players has been doing a great job for two and a half months. Great job."

"There is not enough praise that deserves to be given to them for the efforts they have made, a small group of players playing twice a week since mid-November 2024."

"They will get a chance to recover now. We will get some players back over the next few weeks."

"We will look forward to restarting and completing the season strong," Postecoglou told a news conference.

Tottenham have been hit by injuries this season as matches are tight and fast in a number of competitions.

At least, after being knocked out in two domestic trophies, now they have a break on schedule for more rest to allow for the recovery of key players, such as Cristian Romero, Dominic Solanke, and Micky van de Ven.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's chances of winning the trophy this season are not completely closed. Don't talk about the Premier League, but the Europa League which is the only Spurs chance.

Spurs have advanced to the last 16 of the Europa League. They are now clearly eyeing the trophy for Europe's second-level tournament since it last grabbed it in 2008.

"I've always won a lot in my second year (with a team). Nothing has changed," said Postecoglou trying to be optimistic about the opportunities left.

He referred to the times at Australian clubs South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos, Scottish giants Celtic, and the Australian National Team who won the Asian Cup in their second year as coaches.

Postecoglou had just a few months remaining from his second season at Tottenham, where he started very promising -- unbeaten and was at the top of the Premier League after 10 games in his first season -- but had been crushed, leaving a question mark for the Australian coach's style of play.
