Jorge Martin Uses Number 1 For Racing Number, Ready To Perform Maximum For Aprilia

Jorge Martin changed the race number in MotoGP 2025 (doc. MotoGP).

JAKARTA - Jorge Martin has finally decided to wear the number one as his race number in the 2025 MotoGP. From that choice, Jorge Martin is determined to be the best for his team, Aprilia.

"I have no doubt to wear the number 1 because I have struggled to achieve this in my entire life."

"Winning the world title in MotoGP and being able to wear this number with Aprilia is a very fun thing," Martin was quoted as saying on the official MotoGP website on Friday, January 17, 2025.

The news about the use of number one as racing number Jorge Martin was announced in the Aprilia team presentation which took place in Milan, Italy, Thursday, January 16, 2025.

At that moment, Martin admitted that he was motivated to choose this number because it was a number that could only be used by defending MotoGP champions.

"Hopefully, we can have greater motivation with this number. I feel great with this number and hopefully we can take it to the top," said Martin.

With the official use of the racing number, Jorge Martin automatically joined the elite group of riders wearing the number 1 plate.

Francesco Bagnaia became the first rider in more than a decade to wear the number 1 in MotoGP starting the 2023 season.

Bagnaia is also the first racer in the MotoGP era to be able to defend the MotoGP world title using number 1 and is recorded as a rare achievement.

After becoming the 2024 MotoGP world champion, Martin chose to leave Pramac Racing. The Spaniard then decided to join Aprilia after being disappointed to fail to become the Ducati factory rider who preferred Marc Marquez.

In Aprilia, Martin will be in the same team as Marco Bezzecki. He also said joining Aprilia was the right decision and was ready to give everything for the Italian team.

"It's amazing. It's really, really good. All the drivers want to be rewarded. So, when I arrive and see everyone so emotional with me and Marco (Bezzecchi) too, I think the arrival of the two of us is really amazing."

"I've felt the love from Aprilia for us. I've also felt this team is like my family. I'm ready to 'kill' them," said Martin.

With his latest choice, Martin will perform even better. His first stage with Aprilia began with a race at the Buriram Circuit, Thailand, February 28, March 2, 2025.
