JAKARTA The women's singles coach Imam Tohari confirmed that Gregoria Mariska Tunjung would go down alone at the India Open 2025 which will take place tomorrow week.

Gregoria previously played at the Malaysia Open 2025 which is currently still ongoing. In that event the journey ran aground in the first half after losing against her colleague Putri Kusuma Wardani.

Imam confirmed that Putri, who was previously able to penetrate the quarter-finals in Malaysia, would not be sent to India level 750 BWF.

"To the India Open because Putri doesn't play, I will focus on Gregoria. I want to see that she can perform well and the maximum of what has been trained," he said in a statement.

Gregoria, 25, still has not found her best performance after winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics stage last August.

He has played eight competitions after that. However, his best journey was one runner-up at the Kumamoto Masters Japan.

Imam also hopes that Gregoria can perform at her best and get results that match expectations when she descends in India later.

"I want to see that he can perform well and maximally from what has been trained. If in training he can leave 70 to 80 percent, at least in the match it will not decrease even if it can reach 90-100 percent," said Imam.

The India Open 2025 will take place on January 14-19. Indonesia in the last three editions returned from there without carrying a title.

Gregoria will start the struggle at the India Open 2025 against Danish women's singles, Line Christophersen. This is their third competitive clash.

In the previous two clashes Gregoria was always recorded as the winner. One of those victories occurred at the India Open in 2023 ago.
