Resigning From Madura United Coaching Chair

JAKARTA - Madura United coach, Paulo Meneses, declared his resignation from office following six consecutive defeats in Liga 1 2024/2025. This information was conveyed by the President Director of PBMB Madura United, Annisa Zhafarina, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Not only the coach, two of Teeses' assistants, Tiago and Helder, also said goodbye to their positions. The results for the last two months are the main reason for the resignation of the coaching team.

"After six games of successive defeats, coach Paulo Menes and two of his assistants, Tiago and Helder, have withdrawn from coaching seats due to the minor results produced," Annisa said in an official statement quoted Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

With the resignation of Menes, the vacant coaching chair is now temporarily filled by Rahmad Basuki. With this situation, Annisa stated that the club would soon look for a coach for Laskar Sapeh Kerap.

"For the time being, Laskar Sapeh Kelap will be led by caretaker Rahmad Basuki while management is looking for a new head coach," he said.

In fact, Paulo Meneses only handled Madura United in early October 2024. He replaced the role of Widodo Cahyono Putro, who both considered less than optimal at the beginning of Liga 1 2024/2025.

Unfortunately, for eight games, only one victory was presented by Meneses. While the rest ended in defeat. This result left Madura United stranded at the bottom of the standings with a collection of six points.
