Cool, Djokovic Tops The List Of ATP 310 Weeks, Equals Federer's Record

JAKARTA - Serbian Novak Djokovic has now made a new milestone as the longest running ATP world number one, equaling Roger Federer's record of 310 weeks in that position.

Djokovic's ninth Australian Open title last month is guaranteed to secure his ranking and will surpass Federer's record on March 8.

Following that historic record, Djokovic said he would adjust his calendar of matches and was ambitious to surpass Federer and Rafael Nadal's 20 Grand Slam titles.

"Having been at number one with the longest week, it will be a relief to be able to focus my attention on the (Grand) Slam," said Djokovic, as reported by Antara by Reuters on Monday.

"When you are looking for number one, you have to play well throughout the season, and you have to play all the tournaments. I'm really looking forward to setting new records," he concluded.

The achievement is the fifth time for Djokovic to perch at the top of the world rankings. The 33-year-old reclaimed the top spot from Nadal in February last year, and finished first at the end of 2020 for the sixth time, matching the record set by Pete Sampras of the United States.
