Postponement Of 2022 World Cup Qualification Give Fresh Air For Shin Tae-yong And The Indonesian League Competition

JAKARTA - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has decided to shift the 2020 World Cup Qualification schedule to next year. In fact, the matches will be held in October and November.

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) admitted that this delay made the coach team have to carry out a new program. However, is this AFC decision a disadvantage or advantage for the Indonesian national team?

National football observer, Rais Adnan, said the delay clearly affected the program of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong. However, he actually saw this as an advantage.

"With the various polemics he has faced, at least now he can focus on the U-19 national team for the Asian Cup," Rais told VOI, Thursday, August 13.

The man who is also the editor-in-chief of the national sports media added, Shin also has a more mature time to prepare. The Korean coach can monitor the players in more detail later in the competition in preparation for the senior national team next year.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong was worried about the Indonesian national team's match in the 2022 World Cup Qualification. The reason was that his team's preparation was not perfect. His program fell apart due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Rais also assessed that this AFC decision also provided an advantage for PSSI in holding competitions. He believes, PSSI need not be confused anymore to dismiss the competition because of national team matches.
