JAKARTA - The Panakukang Sector Police (Polsek) is still investigating the case of a fight that killed a former Indonesian Air Force personnel with the initials HE (39) and a rental driver with the initials MS (26), at the Heroes Cemetery, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"From the results of the initial investigation, there are still two people involved. We are still investigating the others," said Panakukang Police Chief Commissioner Adjutant Andi Ali Surya when confirmed, Sunday, October 31.

He said the case occurred on Friday, October 29, at around 22.30 central Indonesia time, according to the report received. The location of the incident is around the Heroes Cemetery, Perintis Kemerdekaan Street.

"This case will still be investigated by the police team," said Ali Surya.

Based on the information gathered, the police chief explained that MS was a rental driver. After dropping off his passengers at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital, then meeting HE and asking for matches, while talking, he also asked to be escorted to Sultan Alauddin Street.

On the way, HE suddenly asked MS to turn his vehicle towards the Hero's Cemetery. When turning in that direction, HE then carried out the persecution by pulling out his bayonet and then stabbing the thigh and chest of victim MS.

MS spontaneously tried to fight back and snatched the bayonet from HE, then stabbed back into HE's chest. MS then tried to get out of his car and asked local residents for help. Meanwhile HE also got out of the car and ran away.

The victim MS was then helped by residents and took him to the Ibnu Sina Hospital to get first aid, then he was referred to the Bhayangkara Hospital for intensive care.

After the incident, residents contacted the Panakukang Police. Upon arriving at the crime scene (TKP), members carried out a search until they found a man in the water canal, suspected of being HE. After being checked, his condition was lifeless.

"Meanwhile, MS is being treated intensively at Bhayangkara Hospital. There are no suspects yet, because the investigation is still ongoing," he said.

When asked what the motive for the deadly duel was, whether there was an alleged robbery and the two had a relationship, the Sector Police Chief said that the investigation was still in progress.

"We don't know them well. We are still speculating (alleged robbery) and an investigation is still being carried out. The status in question is the dismissal of the Indonesian Air Force, and his status is not TNI, meaning that he has become a civilian," he explained.

Separately, the Head of Troop Information and General Information (Kaurpenpasum) Hasanuddin Air Base, Makassar, Captain Sus Jumadi, confirmed that HE was fired by the Indonesian Air Force for a number of violations.

"The person concerned has been dismissed from the military service, so his status is no longer an Indonesian Air Force soldier," said Captain Jumadi.

For the problems that befell MS, it is currently being investigated and processed by the local police, and has no relationship with the Indonesian Air Force.
