JAKARTA - The Cleanliness Management Unit (UPK) of the Central Jakarta Water Agency continues to work hard to transport garbage that is dragged by the Ciliwung River from the upstream sector to the downstream sector. Various types of garbage were also caught in the mouth of the Manggarai Water Gate, Menteng District, Central Jakarta.

"Today, the garbage collection at the Manggarai sluice gate is only 24 cubic meters. It's still small, normally that's the amount," said Head of the UPK Central Jakarta Water Agency, Farry Andhiko to VOI, Saturday, October 30, afternoon.

Farry said that the garbage stuck at the Manggarai sluice gate is usually dominated by household waste. The garbage was carried by the river from upstream with various types of garbage.

"Usually, bamboo clumps, logs of tree trunks and garbage on the riverbanks from upstream to downstream are carried by the water," he said.

In the process of transporting the waste, Farry said that there were no obstacles, although sometimes the volume of waste stuck in large quantities.

"God willing, there will be no obstacles in the future. We UPK Water Agency DKI Jakarta Environment Service will maximize the removal of garbage from the river to minimize the potential for blockages," he said.
