JAKARTA - Secretary General of the PDI-P Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that the awarding of scholarships for academic studies to compare the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) was not politically charged.

"The scholarships given also do not contain political interests. So researchers with mixed method research methods are actually required to put forward scientific principles for the sake of truth. academics," said Hasto in a written statement, Saturday, October 30.

He also explained that the scholarship award was purely given to strengthen the academic tradition within the party. Not only that, this study is considered important and can be part of political education to review the character of the nation's leaders.

Hasto hopes that this scholarship will make the discourse on strategic leadership more resonant on campus. In addition, he hopes that this will further encourage the birth of leaders who have an ideology based on Pancasila and have a leadership culture.

"The strategic leadership is a mixture of firmness, discipline, consistency, and at the same time the ability to inspire all components of the nation to move in one direction towards the glory of the nation," he said.

Furthermore, Hasto said that the enthusiasm of the applicants shows how the President's leadership determines the future direction of the nation and state.

"So this will be very positive for joint learning, including for the PDI-P. Because it is this research-based policy that must be put forward, including by the PDI-P," he asserted.

As previously reported, Hasto offered scholarships to any party interested in studying the comparison of President Jokowi's performance with that of President SBY. Offer this to avoid a unilateral claim that could potentially become a political rumor.

He said academic studies could use quantitative aspects to compare infrastructure development in the Jokowi and SBY eras.

"I personally offer scholarships for those who will conduct a study to compare the performance of President Jokowi with President SBY. So that it does not become a political rumor, but based on academic studies that can be accounted for in terms of objectivity," said Hasto.

"For example, how are the number of bridges built between Pak SBY and Pak Jokowi in the 10 years now. The number of ports, toll roads, agricultural lands for the people, dams for the people, that can be done with objective research," he added.

The number of applicants for this scholarship has reached dozens of people from the University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada University (UGM), Airlangga University, UIN Banda Aceh, to Oslo University, Manila University, and University Sains Malaysia.

The research studies include the science of government, politics, public policy, leadership, psychology, management, government organizational institutions and others.
