Visiting 75 Children Victims Of The Kisor Posramil Attack, Komnas HAM Asks The Local Government To Immediately Prepare These 3 Things

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Representative of Papua visited 75 refugee children who were victims of the attack on the Kisor Posramil, Maybrat Regency. These children were entrusted to a Catholic foundation school in Aimas, Sorong Regency.

The Head of Komnas HAM Papua Representative Frits B.Ramandey said that dozens of refugee children who were victims of the post-Kisor Posramil attack needed special treatment to recover their mental condition.

"Komnas HAM has seen firsthand the condition of refugee children being accommodated in schools in Aimas, it is indeed necessary to take concrete actions to ensure the fulfillment of children's basic rights, one of which is education," said Frits Ramandey when contacted from Jayapura, Antara, Saturday, October 30.

Frits said that based on the results of the Komnas HAM Papua team's field visit to the condition of refugee children as victims of the post-Kisor Posramil attack, his party proposed three important things for the local government to do.

First, it is necessary to provide trauma healing services for children's psychological recovery. Second, guaranteeing children's basic rights in education by providing learning facilities such as bags, books, and clothes. Third, immediately return the victim to their original area.

Three things to handle victims after the Kisor Posramil attack have been coordinated with the Maybrat Regency Government and the Papua Provincial Government to local stakeholders.

"Some of the refugee children who were victims of the Kisor Posramil attack are taking exams, so the local government is obliged to register students in the Dapodik data," said Frits.

Komnas HAM Papua continues to coordinate and communicate with the local government to assist the handling of refugees as a result of the victims after the attack on the Kisor Posramil.

According to Frits, the repatriation of refugee child victims after the Kisor Posramil attack, is not only carried out by the Papuan Human Rights Commission but also needs to collaborate with other parties and the local government.
