Golkar Recommends Irman Yasin Limpo As A Candidate For Mayor Of Makassar

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party issued a recommendation letter for the candidate for Mayor of Makassar, South Sulawesi, Irman Yasin Limpo. Irman is paired with the deputy mayoral candidate, Zunnun Amrin.

"We recommend Irman Yasin Limpo," said Head of the Election Winning Board (Bappilu) Golkar Sulsel, Kadir Halid when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, July 29.

A letter of support to Irman, who is familiarly called None Limpo, was signed by Golkar Head Airlangga Hartarto and Golkar Secretary General Lodewijk F Paulus. Golkar, which has 5 seats in the Makassar DPRD, still needs a coalition to fulfill the minimum requirement of 10 seats in the Makassar Pilkada.

The Makassar Pilkada contest was enlivened by a number of prospective candidates. Among them are Munafri Arifuddin (Appi) who has the support of the Democrats, Syamsu Rizal (Deng Ical) who is supported by the PDIP and Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto) who is supported by NasDem and Gerindra.

Simultaneous regional elections were held on December 9, 2020. This schedule was postponed because Pilkada preparations were hampered by the impact of COVID-19.
