Residents Of Koja Poisoned After Eating PSI Box Of Rice, Ex Cadre Viani: If My Team Handles It, There Has Never Been A Problem

JAKARTA - A former cadre of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Viani Limardi, responded to the poisoning case that hit dozens of Koja residents after being distributed rice boxes by PSI.

Viani admitted that while she was still a cadre, the food distribution program was carried out by her team. However, there were never any problems until he left the party membership.

"So far, my team has never had a problem with it, yes. But my team has left this program this week. So, now I don't know who and why it happened," said Viani in a short message, Tuesday, October 26.

Viani prays for the residents who have been poisoned to recover quickly. According to him, this incident must be thoroughly investigated by PSI so that it will no longer cause casualties in the future.

"It must be investigated thoroughly, where is the problem? Is it true that there is no mistake in the shop? There are not a few victims, you know. There are children and parents too," said Viani.

"Especially in this era of COVID-19, the risk of getting fit is high, what if the residents are not fit? Because PSI often distributes (food) and the amount is decent, there should be no more victims," he continued.

For information, as many as 35 residents of Koja Village, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta were poisoned after receiving the distribution of rice boxes from PSI cadres on Sunday, October 24.

The distribution of food was carried out spontaneously by PSI with the aim of caring for the residents. They distributed 89 food boxes containing rice with side dishes of eggs, beans, and tempeh orek.

Apparently, 3 hours later, 35 residents felt nauseated, dizzy, and vomited. Until finally, there were 24 residents who were taken to Koja Hospital for treatment and 11 people decided to stay at home.

Of the dozens of residents who seek treatment, most have been allowed to go home and 5 residents have been hospitalized.
