UNS Student Dies After Menwa Training, Gibran Rakabuming Apologizes: Whatever Happens In Solo Is My Responsibility

SOLO - The death of a Solo Sebelas Maret University (UNS) student, Gilang Endi Saputra, after attending education and training in Karangpandan, Karanganyar Regency also received attention from the Mayor, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Gibran apologized to the family for this incident. For the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), whatever happens in Solo is his responsibility.

"Yes, whatever happens in the city of Solo is my responsibility. I won't be coordinating with the Chancellor anymore, it's being taken care of by the Chief of Police, we'll just have to wait," said Gibran to the media crew, Tuesday, October 26.

Gibran also apologized through his Instagram account @gibranrakabuming which was written in the comments column uploaded by @soloinfo. This apology was written by Gibran following comments from Warganet @faeyza_33.

"Piye mas wali iki (how is it mas wali)?" say account.

"Yes sir. I'm sorry this is my fault," replied Gibran.

Gibran also asked the public or families in particular to be patient while waiting for the results of the autopsy conducted by the authorities or the hospital. He hoped that this incident would not happen again.

"We'll wait for the autopsy results, I regret that incident. It's embarrassing! Wes is waiting for the Chief of Police," said Gibran.

Kasat Reskrim Polresta Surakarta AKP Djohan Andika said this case was still being handled by the authorities. Gilang, as quoted from Antara, died after attending the UNS Menwa Training and Education on the Bengawan Solo river, Central Java, last Sunday, October 24.

The police are still waiting for the autopsy results from RSUD Dr. Moewardi Solo against Gilang's body. The autopsy results are expected to help determine the cause of death of the victim.

Separately, UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Ahmad Yani, confirmed that Gilang died after attending Menwa Training and Education. However, Ahmad Yani did not want to speculate about the cause of Gilang's death.
