DKI Doesn't Increase Compensation Fund For Bantargebang Contract To Bekasi, The Reason Is Because Jakarta's Economy Is Difficult

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government and Bekasi City Government have officially extended the cooperation contract for the processing of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) for the next five years.

In the addendum to the cooperation agreement (PKS) for the management of Bantargebang, DKI has budgeted a compensation fee of IDR 379.5 billion per year.

The nominal compensation fund agreed not to be increased, even though Bekasi had previously asked for a 100 percent increase in funds.

Head of the DKI Environment Agency, Asep Kuswanto, explained the reason for the cancellation of the increase in compensation funds. Asep said that the current economic condition of DKI was difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, DKI is unable to increase the compensation fund.

"We both know that economic conditions do not allow (to increase compensation funds), not only Jakarta, but also Indonesia. So to increase the amount, it is not possible," said Asep at DKI City Hall, Monday, October 25. .

Moreover, Asep views that the nominal value of the Bantargebang agreement grant is still relevant for now. Thus, DKI and Bekasi agreed to amend the clause on the extension of the agreement in a minor way.

Previously, Bekasi had also asked the number of residents who received BLT funds, which were included in the compensation component, to be increased.

Bekasi wants an additional 6,000 BLT recipient families living in the vicinity of Bantargebang, from the previous 18,000 families receiving BLT Rp300 thousand per month.

However, it turned out that the nominal compensation fund was not increased. Therefore, Asep handed over the arrangement of the BLT cost components for residents around Bantargebang to the Bekasi City Government.

"DKI did not increase its grant assistance. So Rp379.5 billion. So if Bekasi can use this amount to improve mutual relations, then increase the coverage of recipients of direct cash assistance, we will welcome it," explained Asep.

For information, Anies and Pepen officially signed the extension of the Bantargebang cooperation. The signing was witnessed by the Director General of Regional Administration of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Syafrizal.

The scope of cooperation with the Bekasi City Government includes compensation funds; revision of reliable RKL/RPL documents; assessment of the carrying capacity and capacity of the environment, routes and timing of waste transportation; monitoring and evaluation of utilization management; waste disposal and collection; waste reduction technology innovation; until the process of terminating the TPST Bantargebang Bekasi City.

Meanwhile, the scope of compensation in this agreement includes the prevention of environmental damage; environmental restoration; health and medical expenses; compensation in other forms in the form of direct cash assistance; to direct cash assistance and death coverage (policy) for residents affected by the Bantargebang TPST; and others.
