Exhibitionist Perpetrator At Sudirman Station Admits His Actions, Suspect Charged With Multiple Articles

JAKARTA - Tanah Abang Metro Police investigators have officially arrested an exhibitionist with the initials WYS (27) who carried out an indecent act against a woman around Sudirman Station. WYS was named a suspect after he confessed to his actions.

"The perpetrator of the exhibition or harassment that went viral on social media with the initials WYS has been arrested," said Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief Kompol Singgih Hermawan to VOI, Monday, October 25.

Meanwhile, according to the perpetrator's confession, said the police chief, the act was carried out by WYS alone.

"He confessed himself, he lowered his knee-length pants and took out his genitals to the victim. The perpetrator admitted that it was his desire for the victim to see it," said the police chief imitating the perpetrator's confession.

The police chief further explained that the incident took place in the Dukuh Atas area, Tanah Abang.

"Thanks to the help of CCTV at the scene, the perpetrator was arrested and the perpetrator admitted his actions," he said.

As a result of his actions, WYS was charged with Article 34 in conjunction with Article 8 of UURI No. 44 of 2008 and Article 281 of the Criminal Code concerning criminal acts of intentionally being the object of pornography and crimes of decency.

Previously, exhibitionist victims did not believe that the man who was arrested was the culprit, because the situation was very dark at the time.

"I can't give a detailed name (of the perpetrator) because the victim doesn't believe this is the culprit. I'm afraid he's not the suspect. This is still being investigated," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Tanah Abang Police Kompol Haris to reporters, Sunday, October 24, early in the morning.

Kanit also said that confirming the face of the perpetrator based on the video is still not possible because the image quality is not clear.

"In terms of video, only the victim who is face-to-face doesn't really believe it's his face. Even from CCTV, it's dark or dim," explained Kanit.
