JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a statement at the APEC Leaders Informal Dialogue with Guest session which was held at the Five Convention Center, Peru, Friday, November 15.

According to him, the Asian Pacific Economy Cooperation (APEC) must continue to be the main model of strengthening solidarity and collaboration in the region.

"APEC must continue to be the main model for strengthening solidarity and collaboration in the region," he said through the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, November 16.

On the occasion, President Prabowo emphasized APEC's important role as a bridge to a more inclusive future amid increasingly complex global challenges.

President Prabowo conveyed three strategic roles that APEC needs to play in achieving these goals.

First, is to strengthen cooperation in the clean energy transition and the development of resilient infrastructure against climate change.

"We are facing the danger of climate change, many of our islands are threatened by rising sea levels, and we are working with many other countries, inviting them to join in joint economic activities," the President said.

The joint economic activity in question is in the form of downstreaming the industry to achieve food independence in the region in the face of climate change.

Second, President Prabowo also encouraged APEC to become a bridge for innovation through an inclusive digital transformation scheme by overcoming technological access gaps and also technology transfer between APEC member countries to encourage innovation in the region.

"We believe that the Asia Pacific region will lead this digital and inclusive transformation," said President Prabowo.

Third, APEC must also be a bridge for inclusion (bridge to greater inclusion). President Prabowo emphasized that the benefits of development must be felt by all communities and individuals.

Therefore, President Prabowo encourages poverty alleviation efforts, eradicating corruption, and strengthening transparent governance.

"Indonesia supports APEC's priorities in these areas," he said.

In his closing speech, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to free trade, sustainability, and the principle of inclusiveness.

Indonesia's active involvement in the APEC forum, said Prabowo, is a clear proof of the country's contribution in building a more inclusive, innovative, and resilient future.
