JAKARTA - The East Java Regional Police examined the results of the production of methamphetamine produced by a resident in Lumajang Regency, by taking several samples to be tested at the local police forensic laboratory (labfor).

"To find out the quality of the results of the methamphetamine manufacturing process, we will conduct further research at the East Java Police Forensic Laboratory," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Drugs for Bidlabfor East Java Police AKBP Imam Mukti, quoted Saturday, October 23.

Previously, the Lumajang Police Narcotics Investigation Unit arrested GY (47) at the house of a resident in Besuk Village, Tempeh District, Lumajang Regency, on Thursday, October 21. The house was allegedly used by the perpetrators to produce narcotics of the type methamphetamine.

"From the temporary inspection, we found that there are many ingredients that meet the elements of making methamphetamine, such as the presence of acetone and caustic soda," he said.

However, to determine the quality of the methamphetamine made by the suspect, it is still unknown because the East Java Regional Police will bring a number of samples of the methamphetamine to the laboratory.

Imam said the perpetrators of producing methamphetamine using the "shake and bake" method were considered very brave because the risk was very high.

"This is the first time we have found a meth maker using the 'shake and bake' method in Lumajang, which is the only one in East Java," he said.

In that method, he continued, the perpetrator mixed all the ingredients needed to make crystal methamphetamine in one container, then shaken it. This method has not been encountered in other cases.

"On average, methamphetamine makers do not use that method because it is very risky. The risk is very dangerous, it can cause an explosion due to a thermochemical reaction," he said.

"So after the chemicals are mixed in one container, they are shaken and then the crystallization process is left to get the crystal methamphetamine," he said.

Meanwhile, Lumajang Police Chief AKBP Eka Yekti Hananto Seno said there were four locations that were allegedly used as places to produce methamphetamine by GY perpetrators.

The four locations are one house in Besuk Village, Tempeh District and three houses in Wonogriyo Village, Tekung District, Lumajang Regency.

"The results of our examination developed that the other three crime scenes (TKP), then from the four crime scenes that we identified as where the crystal methamphetamine was made, many of the basic ingredients for making narcotics were found," he said.
