Looking back a little, the first case of COVID-19 was found in Wuhan, China. According to the COVID-19 timeline published by WHO, on December 31, 2019, the Wuhan Municipal Health Commission reported its first case as a variant of the new virus. Only 3 months after the Wuhan case, namely on March 2, 2020, the first case in Indonesia was announced.

"This means that only 5 months after Jokowi-Maruf's inauguration, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in Indonesia," said Golkar Party politician Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, during a press conference for the two years of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf administration at the Golkar Party's DPP office, Friday. , October 22.

However, Melki continued, the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet under the control of President Jokowi and Vice President Maruf Amin has succeeded in responding to these challenges well by controlling the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

"Daily confirmed cases and deaths have fallen sharply. In total, 96.23 percent of COVID-19 cases have now fully recovered. In fact, there is a 21 percent decrease in the number of cases compared to the previous week and a 32.7 percent decrease in the number of deaths compared to the previous week, "explained the Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the DPR.

Compared to other countries, said Melki, the incidence of COVID-19 per 1 million population in Indonesia is low at 3.53 cases and the case reproduction rate (Rt) is 0.7.

Indonesia has even passed the peak period of active COVID-19 cases which occurred on July 24, 2021, with 574,135 active cases.
