Arresting Meth Dealer, Police Are Thrown With Stones by Residents

JAKARTA - Members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Labuhanbatu Police, North Sumatra Police (North Sumatra) were pelted by residents when they arrested a methamphetamine dealer in Tanjung Sarang Elang Village, Panai Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency.

"The arrests were made after carrying out developments in Medan and Tanjung Balai," said Labuhanbatu Police Narcotics Head Police Commissioner Adjutant Martualesi Sitepu, representing the Labuhanbatu Police Chief Grand Commissioner Adjutant Deni Kurniawan, Sunday, October 17.

He said that members of the police at that time were arresting a drug dealer who had become a target, namely RNH (35), a resident of Tanjung Sarang Elang Village, Labuhanbatu Regency who was secured Monday (11/10) at around 21.00 western Indonesia time.

However, in front of the narcotics dealer's house, the officers met resistance from the family and residents of the surrounding community by throwing and obstructing the personnel.

"We are still arresting the methamphetamine dealer," he said.

Martualesi said the suspect was arrested based on the development of an accomplice of the Court (31), a resident of Tanjung Haloban Negeri Lama who was arrested by means of an undercover buy (police disguised as a buyer) at Simpang Jawi-Jawi, Selat Besar Panai Hulu Village.

From the two suspects confiscated evidence in the form of narcotics of the type methamphetamine weighing 5.66 grams, Rp1,550,000 in cash, five units of cellphones, one unit of a Yamaha RX King motorcycle.

The suspect's statement has been involved in drug trafficking for more than two years with daily profits of Rp600,000 to Rp1,000,000.

"The two suspects violated Article 114 subsidiary Article 112 in conjunction with Article 132 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison," he said.
