Jakarta Deputy Governor Riza Patria

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to carry out mud raids, construction of infiltration wells, and installation of rain gauges in 267 urban villages to minimize flooding in Jakarta.

The anticipation continues to be accelerated from upstream to downstream as additional preparation in the event of a flood. Meanwhile, related to the post-flood, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also establish refugee posts.

"Yes, of course, we will build flood posts. The Regional Disaster Management and Management Agency (BPBD) has also prepared shelters and aids ranging from basic necessities to milk for toddlers," said Jakarta Deputy Governor Riza Patria in Sumur Village, Klender, East Jakarta, Sunday 17 October.

Furthermore, the establishment of flood evacuation posts to deal with flood disasters in densely populated settlements.

"Of course the flood anticipation program has been arranged as in previous years. All Task Forces, volunteers, and the community work together to help prevent, control, and handle floods," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that all urban villages in the capital city had installed rain gauges. He said, this tool is useful for anticipating potential flooding.

"Starting this year, we have rain gauges in all 267 urban villages in Jakarta. So we know exactly what rainy conditions are at this time," said Anies, last October 13.

In dealing with the current rainy season, Anies said there are three sources of flooding or fronts that have the potential to hit Jakarta. First, the coastal front, namely rob. Second, the front from the mountainous area which flows through 13 rivers and then enters Jakarta. The third front is local rain.

"We will face these three fronts with three principles, one alert, two responsive, three support. Hopefully, this will be able to move all elements of society," said Anies.

Furthermore, the former Minister of Education and Culture also conveyed other efforts prepared by the DKI Provincial Government as a form of preparedness for the rainy season.
