COVID-19 Update As Of October 16: 997 New Cases From Examination Of 270,811 Specimens

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 270,811 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 997 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 4,234,011 people and 18,746 active cases," said Ministry of Health data, Saturday, October 16.

Today's recovered cases increased by 1,525 cases, bringing the total to 4,072,332 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 44 people and a total of 142,933 people.

The province with the most new cases is DKI Jakarta with 154 cases and a total of 860,014 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 114 new cases with a total of 483,861 cases. West Java has 108 new cases and a total of 704,400 cases. Then, East Java has 100 new cases and a total of 397,283 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 217 recovered cases. Followed by Banten with an additional 142 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 127 recovered cases, and South Sulawesi with an additional 108 recovered cases.

There is one province that reported no new cases today, namely Maluku. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 43,163,674.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 0.58 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of being infected with COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 490,512 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, currently there are 106,669,970 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 62,166,916 of the second dose of vaccination. Then, the third dose of vaccination was 1,065,916. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
