Long Revenge Of Land Dispute, Man In Tanimbar Maluku Kills 2 Residents

SAUMLAKI - The Tanimbar Islands Police, Maluku, has uncovered the case of the murder of two residents who were motivated by a land dispute.

The Tanimbar Islands Police Chief AKBP Romi Agusriansyah said his party had arrested a perpetrator with the initials MM alias Acel (26).

MM, who was named a suspect, allegedly killed two victims, namely Elias Sairdekut (44) and Leonard Besitimur (57) on Wednesday, October 13.

The motive for this murder was a land dispute. It is suspected that the perpetrator had an old grudge against one of the victims related to a land dispute that was cleared in the area around Wurangar, Seira Island.

According to him, the land was claimed to belong to the perpetrator, but two victims had already cleared it to grow crops.

The incident began when the perpetrator and a colleague were sitting in front of the hut to prepare to see the seaweed. Suddenly Elias and Leonard's victims came who wanted to see the seaweed nursery process.

After seeing the victim coming with a machete to clean the garden, the perpetrator then snatched the sharp weapon from the victim Elias Sairdekut and immediately slashed the victim's neck twice.

After seeing the victim fall and die, Leonard's victim ran away. The perpetrator chased and stabbed Leonard in the neck once, causing the victim to fall.

After that, the perpetrator covered the bodies of the victims with leaves and sawdust. Then, he washed the sharp weapon and placed it in the witness's garden hut.

"He (the perpetrator) then went to the village and gave himself up. He went to one of the Polri personnel he knew. Because the Polri personnel were on duty, he waited in front of the house. But one of the perpetrators' friends who fled went to the police station and reported the occurrence of a criminal act, and from there the Wermaktian Police made the arrest," said the Police Chief, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 14.

The police examined three witnesses and secured evidence in the form of a machete. Witnesses and perpetrators admitted that this problem had been resolved some time ago.

However, there is still a grudge from the perpetrator, so when he sees the victim coming, the perpetrator immediately consciously and deliberately attacks and causes the victim to die.

"The perpetrator was charged with three primary and subsidiary articles, namely Article 340 subsidiary 338 and Article 351 namely premeditated murder, murder and persecution resulting in the death of a person, with the threat of the death penalty," said AKBP Romi.
