MEDAN - Two suspects in the alleged corruption case of PT Pegadaian (Persero) have been detained by the Special Crime Investigation Team (Pidsus) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejatisu). In that case, the state loss reached Rp 2,394,468,800.

The two suspects are a husband and wife couple, namely SRS (35), State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and DAS (35) residents of Binjai City as Pegadaian employees.

Head of the Legal Information Section (Penkum) of the North Sumatra High Court, Yos A Tarigan explained, two suspects were suspected of corruption in the misuse of collateral disbursement at PT Pegadaian's Fast Secured Credit (KCA) at the Peace Stabat Branch Service Unit (UPC) Tanjung Pura Branch Office, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra against False Gold Collateral Collateral.

"It is true that in the period from July 2019 to March 2020. A total of 306 transactions have been disbursed from loans, all of which are fictitious collateral types of counterfeit goods in the form of fake gold jewelry," Yos told reporters in Medan, Thursday, October 14.

Yos explained that as many as 306 pieces of proof of lien, the total disbursement of the guarantee carried out by DAS with SRS alias Ridho was Rp. 2,394,468,800. DAS as the Head of UPC Peace abused his position for the disbursement of the loan money and handed it over to his husband.

"The loan money was used for personal interests. So that the actions of DAS and her husband SRS have harmed the state's finances. In particular, the state-owned company PT Pegadaian UPC Peace Stabat," explained Yos.

Yos said that independent experts and the audit team from Pegadaian had tested the gold content, which was known to be not gold, but fake gold.

"The DAS suspect has already been detained or detained in the city on the grounds that two children are still toddlers and one of them is still breastfeeding. The person concerned is also cooperative and is obliged to report his whereabouts," he said.

Yos revealed that the suspect SRS was detained for the next 20 days. "The suspect SRS is being held at the Labuhan Deli Detention Center, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency," said Yos.

The two suspects, both suspects were charged with Article 2 paragraph 1, Article 3 junto Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
