JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has been urged to present one of its leaders, Lili Pintauli Siregar, at the trial of their former investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju. The pressure came after Lili's name appeared to be mentioned by a witness who is also a party to the case at the anti-corruption commission, namely the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial.

The trial of Stepanus Robin at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday, October 11, was again in the spotlight. The reason is that M Syahrial, who gave bribes to the former KPK investigator, admitted that he had asked Lili Pintauli for help.

"I once asked for help, but at that time I had never spoken, it was she (Lili Pintauli) who said there was a problem at the KPK, then I said 'That's an old case, madam, in 2019', then answered 'pray a lot'," said Syahrial while testifying via videoconference from the Medan Class I Detention Center.

It didn't stop there, Lili's name was mentioned again and this time it happened when the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) read out Syahrial's investigation report (BAP).

"In BAP 41, you said, 'After that, I didn't communicate with Mrs. Lili, I only communicated again in July 2020 when I was out for 3 days for the Tablighi Jamaat and I was on election leave. Mrs. Lili said there was my name in the file on her desk, I convey that it's an old matter from 2019. Mrs. Lili said that I should pray a lot and I asked for guidance, then I said please help. Mrs. Lili said that she couldn't be helped because it was the leadership's decision and I said yes, is this statement true?" asked the KPK Public Prosecutor Lie Putra Setiawan.

"Right," replied Syahrial.

After Syahrial asked for instructions from Lili, Lili then gave the name Arief Aceh to Syahrial. "At night I still haven't decided whether to go through Mr. Robin or Mrs. Lili (to take care of the case), I asked Mrs. Lili for instructions, finally given the name Arief Aceh, he is a lawyer," said Syahrial.

Even so, Syahrial prefers Stepanus to deal with the alleged bribery case of buying and selling positions that ensnared him rather than contacting Arief Aceh. The introduction between Syahrial and Stepanus occurred because of the intervention of former Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Azis Syamsuddin.

It was this statement that made Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) urge that Lili be presented to Stepanus' trial as a witness so that this allegation would become clear.

"ICW encourages KPK Commissioner Lili Pintauli Siregar to be presented as a witness at the bribery trial related to the handling of the case in Tanjungbalai," he said.

Moreover, the name Lili Pintauli is not the only time it has been presented at the trial. In addition to M Syahrial, the Regional Secretary of Tanjungbalai Yusmada who was presented as a witness and Stepanus Robin Pattuju who was sitting as a defendant had mentioned his name in the statement given.

In addition, Kurnia asked the KPK to immediately issue an investigation warrant. This is important to investigate allegations of other criminal acts other than violations of the KPK Law behind the communication made by Lili and Syahrial.

"This action is important to take to further clarify Lili's roles in the chaotic case," said Kurnia.

"In other respects, Lili's communication with Syahrial further indicates that the integrity of the KPK leadership is already at the stage four emergency level. Because, not only Lili, but Firli Bahuri, who incidentally serves as the KPK Chair, has also been proven to have violated the code of ethics twice," added the activist. the anti-corruption.

As for the alleged communication between Lili and Syahrial, this has been proven in an ethics trial conducted by the KPK Supervisory Board. For Lili's actions, Tumpak Hatorangan et al finally imposed severe sanctions in the form of cutting their basic salary by 40 percent for 12 months.

As previously reported, Stepanus Robin, who is a case broker at the KPK, was charged with receiving money from various parties, including Azis Syamsuddin, in the amount of Rp11 billion and US$36 thousand.

In carrying out his actions, Stepanus was assisted by lawyer Maskur Husain and they worked from July 2020 to April this year. The receipt of money by both occurred in a number of places and was related to a number of cases.

First, the bribes that Stepanus received allegedly came from the case of buying and selling positions in Tanjungbalai. The money was given by the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial with a value of Rp. 1.695 billion.

Next, Stepanus is suspected of receiving money from the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, and a private party named Aliza Gunadi. The two men gave Rp3.09 billion and US$36 thousand.

Third, he is suspected of receiving Rp507.39 million from the inactive Mayor of Cimahi Ajay Muhammad Priatna. This money relates to the case of receiving gratuities from the Bunda Hospital in Cimahi, West Java.

Fourth, Stepanus is suspected of having received Rp525 million from the President Director of PT Tenjo Jaya Usman Effendi. Finally, he is suspected of receiving Rp 5.17 billion in money from former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasar who was involved in gratification and money laundering cases at the KPK.
