JAKARTA - The National Police Propam intervened to investigate the viral incident of Brimob members slamming students in Tangerang Regency. The investigation is to find out whether there is a violation of securing the mass demonstration.

Originally, the incident began when a number of students held a demonstration in front of the Tangerang Regency Government Center (Puspemkab).

In the circulating video footage, the demonstration, which coincided with the 389th Birthday of Tangerang Regency, looked chaotic. In fact, a student who was later identified as Faris was seen being slammed to the floor by an officer.

"Propam Headquarters has gone down to the Banten Police," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Argo Yuwono to reporters, Wednesday, October 13.

The Police Propam Team, continued Argo, was examining the Brimob member. However, Argo refused to share the results of the preliminary examination.

"Members (Brimob) are being investigated," said Argo.

Separately, Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Wahyu Sri Bintoro stated that his party would also take firm action against its members if they were found to have violated the SOP rules in securing the demonstration.

"And the Banten Police Chief will firmly take action against personnel who take security actions outside the standard SOP, that was promised to the victim and his family," he said.

On the other hand, Wahyu publicly apologized to the public for the violent actions of police officers against students during a demonstration in front of the Tangerang Regent's Office, Banten.

"Banten Police and I, on behalf of the Tangerang Police Chief, apologize to the MFA victim (20) who was subjected to violence by security personnel at the demonstration in front of the Tangerang Regent's Office," said Wahyu.

In addition, the security personnel have also personally apologized to the victim and his family for what he has done.

"This security person has apologized to the victim, and he also said that he had no intention of harming the victim," he said.

Apart from that, currently the condition of the victim with the initials MFA has been carried out for a medical examination at the Harapan Mulia Hospital. Then, the results of the examination concluded that his physical condition was good and he was fully conscious.

"And we have also given medicine or vitamins for MFA, only for a complete X-ray the results will be taken tomorrow," he said.
