JAKARTA - Two underage women became victims of sexual exploitation and crimes committed by 5 pimps. Apart from selling the two girls, the five pimps also sexually abused the two minors.

South Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Azis Andriansyah explained that the first disclosure of the prostitution scandal involving two underage children being exploited stems from reports of the loss of one of the children reported by their parents.

The victim is known to be around 16 years old and still in high school grade 2. In mid-September, continued the Police Chief, there was a mother who reported the disappearance of her child for several days. The mother who reported it admitted that there had been a family dispute before her child disappeared after leaving the house.

"Then this mother went to find out with neighbors, friends and so on, and did not meet. Finally reported it to the Depok Police. Then coordinated with the South Jakarta Metro Police," said the Police Chief to reporters, Wednesday, October 13.

Furthermore, the presence of the child was detected in an apartment in the South Jakarta area. Then an investigation was carried out and it turned out that the child was a victim of online prostitution or was sexually or economically exploited.

"There we found him with some of these men. It turned out that this man acted as a pimp, and peddled the two children through the Michat application," he said.

The police chief said that since he was in the apartment, the pimps began to peddle the children. They are sold sexually at a rate of Rp. 250-Rp. 750 thousand.

"They have served or received orders dozens of times until October. Due to this incident, we conducted an investigation and arrested the perpetrators of online prostitution peddlers," he said.

The five pimps were later arrested. They admitted that they deliberately invited, recruited friends first, approached them, were peddled (sold), then cheated on money so that the children who were underage were vulnerable to being affected. Until finally wanted to be sold online.

"This is the evidence, the cellphone used to order, yes, then there is also a contraceptive device," he said.

The five pimps had the initials AM (36) as apartment tenants and accommodated the victim's place. CD (25) as the victim's pick-up driver, FH (18), AL (19), and DA (19) as the victim's seller via online.

"Five actors have different roles. The tariffs peddled are 250 to 750 thousand, the distribution is 250 thousand, each gets 50 thousand. If it is 750 thousand each they can get 150 to 200 thousand. The rest is for girls who are victims of exploitation. Then there is a discount on renting a room, one day 300 thousand, "he explained.

Even so, the South Jakarta Metro Police said they were very concerned about the incident. Moreover, this disclosure occurred on the basis of reports from parents who lost their children.

"We are concerned because our children are involved or involved in these online prostitution activities. At first they did not understand. But because they were lured with money and so on, they were tempted," he said.

As a result of their actions, the five pimps were charged with multiple layers of articles, namely Article 88 in conjunction with 76 (i) or Article 83 in conjunction with 76 (f) or Article 81 in conjunction with 76 (d) of Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning child protection or article 2 paragraph 1 of Law no. 21 of 2007 concerning trafficking in persons with a penalty of 15 years in prison.
