YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Government will build the "Jogja Planning Gallery" building in the Malioboro area. This building will contain the history and planning of DIY development.

"In the beginning, what was Yogyakarta like, for example from the ancient Mataram era, how did it continue to develop into Yogya as it is today, including Yogya in the future," said the Head of the DIY Public Works, Housing and Energy, and Mineral Resources Office (PUP-ESDM) Anna Rina Herbranti explained about the "Jogja Planning Gallery" quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 13.

The construction of the "Jogja Planning Gallery", said Anna, will occupy the land of the former DIY Tourism Office Building (Dispar) and the DIY Regional Representative Council (DPRD) Building on Jalan Malioboro which will later be moved to Jalan Kenari, Yogyakarta.

"Currently we are asked to design that the former Office of the Tourism Office along with the area in the existing DIY DPRD Building will be made as a 'Jogja Planning Gallery'," he explained.

Regarding the contents of the "Jogja Planning Gallery", Anna explained that the building is planned to contain the entirety of Yogyakarta.

"There is the philosophy of Yogya, then there is the history of Yogya. Then what will Yogya be like in the future, including later there will be a big mock-up of Yogya, now and in the future," he said.

It is planned that the "Jogja Planning Gallery" also has various contents such as tourism, culture, and also the spatial planning of Yogyakarta including districts/cities in the DIY Region.

"So the concept of regencies/cities in the DIY region in the future will be like, their planning can be included there," said Anna.

By building the "Jogja Planning Gallery", he said, it is hoped that the wider community can know about the history of the development of DIY.

He said that based on a meeting with the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, the concept or design of the "Jogja Planning Gallery" will be contested in 2022.

The contest, Anna continued, aims to get input, information from the wider community, regarding a good concept for the Jogja Planning Gallery.

The competition is planned to be opened from May to August 2022 until it finds a winner. "Then after that, in 2023, we will design or ideate it," he said.

Anna explained, later in the "Jogja Planning Gallery" there will be a number of exhibition spaces located on the first floor so that people can use them for exhibition activities.

Not only exhibition space, an art stage that is possible for a cultural performance will also be built there. "Of course, all of the concepts have a Yogya nuance," he said.
