Wife Sues For Divorce High Husband In Aceh, January-September 2021 Touches 247 Cases

ACEH - The Syar'iyah Court of Lhokseumawe, Aceh handled 247 divorce cases during the period January to September 2021.

The head of the Lhokseumawe Syar'iyah Court, Azmir, said that the divorce case was dominated by the wife's lawsuit or divorced.

"Of the 247 cases, 210 of them are suing for divorce or the wife is suing for divorce from her husband. Meanwhile, talak divorce or a lawsuit made by the husband against his wife is only 37 cases," Azmir said in Lhokseumawe as reported by Antara, Monday, October 11.

According to Azmir, the number of cases handled is less than in 2020. In 2020, divorce cases handled reached 327 cases.

Divorce cases in 2020 are also dominated by divorce cases. Of the 327 cases, 239 of them were divorced by the wife and 88 cases of divorce, said Azmir.

"Compared to 2020, divorce cases this year can be said to be stable, considering that the 2021 period is still three months away," Azmir said.

Azmir said the cause of the divorce suit was due to continuous disputes in the household. Then, there are those who leave the household.

Divorce occurs in dominant households because there is no responsibility, both from husband and wife, so that domestic disputes often occur, said Azmir.

"For economic factors, domestic violence, infidelity, until someone is serving a prison sentence, the percentage is very small, below 10 percent," said Azwir.

Azmir said his party continues to seek the best way for couples who want to divorce. If it can still be maintained, the divorce will not be carried out because it is considered detrimental to both parties.

"We are trying to do mediation such as education and mediation that is sustainable for the couple in order to improve their household," said Azwir.
