Bobby Nasution Prepares Detailed Designs For Medan Merdeka Square Revitalization

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution has prepared a detailed design for the revitalization of Medan Merdeka Square covering an area of 4.88 hectares which covers the entire planning area.

"Detailed plans for pedestrian infrastructure, drainage, waste water and others, including the transfer of the cable network to the underground," said Bobby Nasution in Medan, quoted by Antara, Sunday, October 10.

The revitalization of Merdeka Square, continued the mayor, is the realization of the campaign promise made last year after absorbing the aspirations and demands of the community.

Because, according to Bobby Nasution, the people of this area have long wanted the Merdeka field, which was actively used in 1880 during the Dutch Colonial period, under the name de Esplanade, to be returned to its original form and function.

As is known, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) supports the revitalization of Medan Merdeka Square, after the Medan City Government group held a meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday (29/9).

"What is the voice of the community, of course we listen to it. The community asks that Merdeka Square be returned to its function as green open space, and everything in it should not be reduced," explained Bobby Nasution.
