Supported For 2024 Presidential Election, Luhut Pandjaitan Never Thought Of Becoming A Presidential Candidate, Still Measuring Himself

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jodi Mahardi, responded to the declaration of presidential candidacy against Luhut. This support is on behalf of the volunteer Sahabat Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (LBP).

Jodi emphasized that Luhut had never even thought about becoming a presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

"I never thought of running for president," said Jodi, Sunday, October 10.

According to him, Luhut is a figure who is able to position himself and is not the type of person who is crazy about power.

"Mr. Luhut 2024 will focus on his foundation," he explained.

Jodi admitted that the commander of the Java-Bali COVID-19 handling had indeed received a large number of mandates from President Jokowi. However, it does not necessarily make Luhut happy.

On the other hand, he said, Luhut carried out his duties as best as possible by positioning himself as a subordinate.

"Yes, he can measure himself," he said.

Previously, the Spokesperson for Friends of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Sarjan Andesbaya, said that many figures were starting to prepare themselves even though the presidential election was still 3 years away. However, he said, a number of political figures for presidential candidates had started socializing in advance, either through social media, such as the social media team for the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo or the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan and the Governor of West Java Ridwal Kamil.

However, according to him, LBP is a capable figure who also deserves to be championed in the contestation of the five-year democratic party. The reason is that all important tasks ordered by Jokowi were successfully completed by Luhut.

In fact, said Sarjan, various achievements have been shown under Luhut's leadership.

"All important tasks ordered by the president to Mr. LBP were carried out successfully according to the target, as we saw when we became the commander of the Java-Bali emergency PPKM in handling COVID-19 in July-September 2021. LBP's leadership is strong when given important tasks," he explained.
