One Hour Doesn't Come Down, Man In Karangasem Bali Dies On A Coconut Tree

KANGASEM - A resident named I Nyoman Sumatra (48) from Tukad Subuh Hamlet, North Duda Village, Selat District, Karangasem, Bali, was evacuated by a joint SAR team. This man died on a coconut tree.

The Coordinator of the Karangasem SAR Post, I Gusti Ngurah Eka Wiadnyana, said that the victim previously climbed a coconut tree at around 08.00 WITA, Friday, October 8.

However, after climbing for almost an hour the victim did not come down. The victim's wife, Ni Wayan Ranis then reported the incident to the family.

"The victim's wife contacted the Karangasem SAR Post to ask for help", said Ngurah Eka.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Denpasar Class A Search and Rescue Office, Gede Darmada, confirmed the incident. The SAR team deployed a rescue team and equipment to the scene.

"We have mobilized personnel to evacuate the victim, first the victim's nephew went up to tie the rope, then the rescue team went up using the ascending mechanical system. After that, the victim was lowered by using the lowering system", he said.

"Previously we thought the victim had just fainted. However, after being examined by the medical team from the Selat Village Health Center, the victim was declared dead", said Darmada.
