Labor Party's Dream: The Government Sends IDR 500 Thousand/Month To 100 Million Citizens

JAKARTA - The President (General Chair) of the Labor Party Said Iqbal promised a program to distribute money to citizens every month if his party passes parliament in the 2024 election.

This he conveyed in the congress which declared the composition of the management of the Labor Party for the period 2021-2026 at one of the hotels in Central Jakarta, broadcast virtually.

"If God wants us to pass the KPU verification and the parliamentary threshold, there is no need to be grandiose. What is the form? Give food to the people. Everyone, give an account every month," said Iqbal, Tuesday, October 5.

Iqbal said, if it enters parliament, the Labor Party will encourage the government to provide Rp. 500 thousand in cash assistance for 100 million residents each month. According to him, this assistance is more effective than the current social assistance program.

"Our population is 260 million, we give it to half, 100 million people. 100 million times Rp. 500 thousand rupiah, only Rp. 50 trillion, from the state budget of Rp. 2,200 trillion. Reduce government budgets that are strange, integrate BLT and other social assistance," explained Iqbal.

This program, he continued, was also carried out by Evo Morales when he was President of Bolivia and Lula da Silva when he was President of Brazil. Both are presidents of the working class. Therefore, he is adamant that this program is also implemented in Indonesia.

"The Labor Party has to fight until it gets it. Maybe not in the first year, take it again in the second year. What's wrong with us sharing for the people? You rich people have got everything," he asserted.

For information, Said Iqbal was lined up as President of the newly declared Labor Party for the period 2021-2026. Then, Agus Supriadi as Vice President, Ferri Nurzarli as Secretary General, and Luthano Budyanto as General Treasurer.

The "reborn" labor party was founded by the 11 founding organizations of the old Labor Party, the Confederation of Indonesian Prosperous Trade Unions (KSBSI), the Indonesian Workers' House-FSPMI, the Indonesian Workers' House-KSPI, the Indonesian People's Organization-KSPSI, KPBI, the Indonesian Workers' House-FSP KEP, and the Indonesian Workers' House-FSP FARKES.

Then, the Indonesian Peasant Union (SPI), the Indonesian Private Educator and Honorary Personnel Forum (FPTHSI) and the Indonesian Women's Movement (GPI).
