Checks East Kolaka Inactive Regent, KPK Explores BNPB Grant Fund Flow

JAKARTA - Investigators from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined Andi Merya Nur, the inactive East Kolaka Regent. She is a suspect in the alleged bribery of infrastructure procurement from a grant from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said the investigation was conducted to explore the flow of grant funds received by the East Kolaka Regency Government, Southeast Sulawesi.

"The investigative team confirmed and explored further the process of grants that the East Kolaka Regency Government will receive from BNPB in the form of rehabilitation and reconstruction funds as well as ready-to-use funds", Ali told reporters, Tuesday, October 5.

Andi Merya Nur's determination began with a sting operation (OTT) on Monday, September 20. In addition to Andi Merya, the KPK has also named the Head of the East Kolaka Regional Disaster Management Agency, Anzarullah as a suspect.

This case began when last March to August, Andi Merya, and Anzarullah prepared a proposal for a BNPB grant fund in the form of rehabilitation and reconstruction funds as well as ready-to-use funds.

Furthermore, Anzarullah asked Andi Merya so that the project whose funds came from the BNPB grant was carried out by trusted people and other parties who assisted in the disbursement process.

There were two projects that Anzarullah had asked him to do. The project is a package of spending on consulting services for planning a bridgework for 2 units in Ueesi Sub-district worth IDR 714 million and planning for consulting services for the construction of 100 housing units in Uluiwoi Sub-district worth IDR 175 million.

Andi Merya agreed and Anzarullah gave a fee of 30 percent. For his actions, Anzarullah as the giver was suspected of violating Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 5 paragraph (1) letter b or Article 13 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by the Law of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Meanwhile, Andi Merya as the recipient was suspected of violating Article 12 letter (a) or Article 12 letter (b) or Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
