Bromo Tour Is Closed From Today Tuesday, October 5 Until An Unspecified Time

JAKARTA - The Mount Bromo tourist area, in East Java, which opened on September 6, 2021, will again be closed to tourists from October 5, 2021, until an undetermined time.

Head of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center, Novita Kusuma Wardani, in Malang City, East Java, Tuesday said that the re-closure of the Bromo tourist area refers to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Nomot 47 of 2021.

"All-natural tourist attractions in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area will be completely closed starting October 5, 2021, until further announcements", said Novita, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, October 5.

Novita explained that the closure was an effort to minimize the impact and risk of spreading the Coronavirus, for visitors, officers, and the public in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.

The total closure of one of the leading tourist areas in East Java is stated in the Announcement of the TNBTS Great Hall Number PG.29/T.8/BIDTEK/BIDTEK.1/KSA/10/2021 which was signed on October 5, 2021.

The Head of the Data, Evaluation, Reporting, and Public Relations Sub-Division of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (TNBTS), Sarif Hidayat added, the closure of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area was not due to the emergence of a cluster of COVID-19 spread after it was opened some time ago.

"There is no (COVID-19 cluster), the closure (TNBTS) refers to the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs", he said.

For information, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area is located in four areas, namely Probolinggo Regency, Pasuruan Regency, Lumajang Regency, and Malang Regency.

The four regions, currently based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 47 of 2021 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) related to COVID-19 in Java and Bali, are at level 3 PPKM status.

Sarif added that on September 6-30 2021 the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area had been visited by 7,904 tourists. The entrance to the area opened is in Pasuruan Regency and Probolinggo Regency,

"For domestic tourists as many as 7,878 people, and 26 foreign tourists. Due to the current closure, we are preparing a rescheduling mechanism", he said.

At the opening of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area some time ago, the TNBTS Center set a limit on the number of tourists entering to anticipate the risk of spreading the Coronavirus.
