JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Jamhuron said that three athletes from the DKI contingent were exposed to COVID-19 after competing at the Papua National Sports Week (PON).

Jamhorun said these three athletes were confirmed positive after carrying out a PCR test as a condition for returning to Jakarta.

"Three of the Jakarta contingent were exposed. Because they have finished competing, they have to go home for PCR. They have no symptoms of COVID-19," Jamhuron said when contacted, Tuesday, October 5.

Jamhuron said they were detected to have contracted the coronavirus when they finished competing. So, this incident did not hinder their match.

"This doesn't affect the match. This is because they were about to go home," he said.

Currently, the three athletes are isolated in a hospital in Papua until they are declared cured of COVID-19. After that, they can return to Jakarta.

As is known, the DKI Jakarta contingent continues to add gold medal coffers at the Papua National Sports Week (PON) and until Monday at 13.00 p.m. local time remains firmly at the top of the championship standings for the four years.

A total of 39 gold medals have been collected along with 23 silver and 24 bronze. This achievement clearly made other contingents have to work hard to catch up, including the defending champion, namely West Java (Jabar).

The medal ranking will certainly be dynamic because there are many branches being competed today. Call it a bodybuilding branch that competes in eight numbers. The match will take place at the Cenderawasih University Auditorium.

In addition, there is open water swimming, cricket, artistic gymnastics, rock climbing, fencing, and chess.

The competition will take place in four clusters starting from Jayapura City and Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency. PON Papua will last until October 15.
