PDIP Party Is Concerned Jakarta Residents Are Overwhelmed By Flood Ahead Of The Rainy Season

JAKARTA - The chairman of the South Jakarta PDIP Party Branch Executive Board (DPC), Yuke Yurike, admits that he is worried about the potential for flooding in Jakarta ahead of the current rainy season.

Yuke said, currently the DKI Provincial Government is doing a lot of budget refocusing which is diverted from the flood control program.

"We are a little worried. With the current budget refocusing, the budget for the environment and normalization along the river has stopped. Near the rainy season, we are worried about flooding," said Yuke, quoted on Monday, October 4.

The DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD) member from the PDIP Party faction admitted that his party would encourage the Watershed Forum (DAS) which will seat all stakeholders to work together to handle normalization and tree planting in the area in Jakarta.

"The land is being eroded because there are many residential buildings around the watershed, so it is prone to landslides. It must be our concern," said Yuke.

Continuing, the Chairperson of the PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP) Eriko Sotarduga said General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri had repeatedly warned of global warming, and invited all to take action to prevent it.

"We are building an early warning system. If we can pre-event, we can do technical work to overcome this problem. One main thing is for the public to also understand this issue," said Eriko.

Megawati also advised that Indonesia must preserve the environment in terms of forests and oceans. Considering that Indonesia's location on the equator benefits the community.

"Mrs. Mega advised that now there is an extraordinary change in weather and climate. This is what we must take care of together to protect the forest in order to reduce carbon emissions. important," he concluded.
