BPJS Health Optimizes Services For Cancer Patients

JAKARTA - The Managing Director of the Health Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) Ali Ghufron Mukti optimizes services for cancer patients as a promotive and preventive effort to reduce the growth rate of cancer patients.

"Early detection is very important. It is known sooner, it is handled faster. We encourage FKTP to be more active in inviting the public to check their health and educate them on how to detect breast cancer and cervical cancer early," said Ghufron, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 4.

"We also guarantee a Pap smear or IVA service as early detection of cervical cancer, this service can be obtained at the FKTP in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. In addition, we also provide online consultation services that can be used by JKN-KIS participants through the JKN mobile application," he added.

Ghufron said there were a number of challenges faced by BPJS Kesehatan and other stakeholders in providing health services for people with cancer, such as the distribution of health facilities and the unequal availability of medical personnel.

Especially in the field of molecular diagnostics, currently there are not many molecular diagnostic facilities certified by professional organizations and international institutions.

"Then the National Guidelines for Medical Services (PNPK) for cancer diagnosis services and chemotherapy are also still limited. However, if we look at the commitment and improvement efforts that are continuously being made by the government and other stakeholders, we are optimistic that the quality of service for JKN-KIS patients with cancer can be better in the future," he said.

To serve JKN-KIS patients with cancer, BPJS Health has collaborated with 714 hospitals with chemotherapy facilities, 507 hospitals with oncology boards, and 35 hospitals with radiotherapy facilities spread throughout Indonesia.
