President Jokowi Directly Appoints Substitute Governor Of DKI After Removing Anies Baswedan, Check The Facts!

JAKARTA - A video that lasts about 10 minutes is circulating on social media Facebook. This video has managed to attract attention because it has the title 'Anies Removal Process! THE PRESIDENT APPOINTS HIS SUBSTITUTE.'

This video is claimed to show directly the process of inauguration of the new governor of DKI Jakarta who will replace Anies Baswedan. However, after watching this video to the end, there was no live broadcast of the inauguration of Anies' replacement governor as claimed by the video title.

"The video contains mostly footage of when Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno were sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta on October 16, 2017," quoted from Turnbackhoax, Sunday, October 3.

To date, there is no official news regarding the removal of Anies Baswedan. The narrative in the video tends to lead to the transfer of leadership in the 2024 Pilkada. The explanation in the video also apparently quotes news from the CNNIndonesia media entitled, "Expert on Substitute Anies: Proposed by Tito, Chosen by Jokowi". There are 101 regional heads from 23 provinces who will be replaced by appointed interim officials.

This appointment by the central government is in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Regional Elections. This appointment is not permanent, but temporary.

This is because there are several regional heads whose terms of office expire in 2022 and 2023, while simultaneous regional elections will be held in 2024. This vacancy will then be filled by a temporary replacement official appointed by the central government.

“To fill the vacant positions of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as Mayor and Deputy Mayor whose term of office ends in 2022 as referred to in paragraph (3) and whose term of office ends in 2023 as referred to in paragraph (5), acting Governor, acting Regent, and acting Mayor until the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, and Mayor and Deputy Mayor through national simultaneous elections in 2024.”

So it can be concluded that the title of the video claiming the live broadcast of Anies Baswedan's removal by President Jokowi is hoax information in the category of misleading content.
