Allegations Of Racism To President Jokowi And Ganjar, Human Rights Activist Natalius Pigai Reported To Polda Metro Tomorrow

JAKARTA - The Barisan Relawan Nusantara (BaraNusa) group will report the former Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), Natalius Pigai, to the Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, October 4 tomorrow.

Natalius Pigai will be reported for his tweets allegedly conveying racist messages to President Jokowi and the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo.

"His actions do not show his intellectuality as a former Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission. It should be fine if he criticizes, but don't slander, don't be racist," said BaraNusa General Chair Adi Kurniawan when contacted by reporters, Sunday, October 3.

In addition, the reporting party also alleged that Natalius Pigai's tweet was not in line with his history of holding positions at Komnas HAM.

Later, the reporter will report five points to the police regarding the alleged violation of Natalius Pigai's tweet.

The BaraNusa chairman stated that the five points consisted of ITE violations to elements of provocation.

"So regarding the article, our advocates will be technical. We will report it about the ITE Law, then the hate speech article, the unpleasant act article, the insult to the head of state article, and about the elements of provocation. Those are the five points," he said.

Adi claimed that his party had prepared a number of evidences for tomorrow's report at the Polda Metro Jaya.

Previously, former Komnas HAM Commissioner Natalius Pigai was in the public spotlight when he was judged to have conveyed messages of racism against President Jokowi and the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo through the Twitter account @NataliusPigai2.

Even so, Natalius Pigai has denied that his tweets are alleged to have elements of racism.

"It's not racist. It's just two people whose names are Jokowi and Ganjar, there's no racism," said Pigai.

"Who is the racist? They think that Central Java is an axiom. The sun rising from the east is an axiom. Jokowi and Ganjar from Central Java are an axiom. There is no racism there," he said.
