BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Police revealed hundreds of ecstasy pills in rice boxes as a mode of tricking officers.

"A total of 300 ecstasy pills and five packages of methamphetamine weighing 76.2 grams were hidden by the suspect in a rice box", said Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police, AKBP Niko Irawan, in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Friday, October 1.

The suspect with the initials RS was arrested on Pangeran Hidayatullah Street, Sungai Jingah Village, North Banjarmasin District, Banjarmasin City on Tuesday, September 28.

Initially, officers found seven ecstasy pills weighing 2.59 grams. Then the Operational Team of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police carried out an expansion to the suspect's house on Padat Karya Street, North Banjarmasin District until evidence was obtained of hundreds of ecstasy pills and several packages of methamphetamine ready to be circulated.

"There are also 48 ecstasy pills stored in the suspect's trouser pocket in the living room chair", said Niko representing the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Tri Wahyudi.

Upon the findings of the evidence, the suspect was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) sub-Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Now the police are still hunting for the network of dealers who control the suspect because it is strongly suspected that he is only a courier and a warehouse for storing drugs.

"Meanwhile, goods are supplied from outside South Kalimantan, which we are still tracking for delivery, whether by land, sea, or air", said Niko.
