Formappi Insinuates Baleg DPR Kunker To Ecuador And Brazil Though Can Draft Laws In Senayan: Missing Overseas Air Yes?

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Parliamentary Concerned Community Forum (Formappi) highlighted the plan for the Legislative Body of the DPR to conduct overseas working visits to Ecuador and Brazil.

Formappi researcher Lucius Karus asked the DPR Baleg to cancel the plan because it was deemed useless, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

According to Lucius, the working visit abroad seemed unclear because the reason was in the context of implementing the parliament's diplomatic function to strengthen the Legislative Body's institutional structure in the context of drafting the Bill on the Elimination of Sexual Violence (PKS).

"The aim is not clear, the sentences are convoluted. The long sentence containing the purpose of going abroad is seen as a strategy to deceive the real purpose of the kunker, which is without a goal, without a mission. " Lucius told reporters on Thursday, September 30.

According to him, if only for institutional strengthening, Baleg does not need to carry out parliamentary diplomacy. It is the same with the agenda for drafting the PKS Bill.

Lucius reminded that the trial period for the completion of the discussion of the 2021 Priority Bill was only one session left. Meanwhile, it is known that until now there is only 1 Priority Bill out of 33 lists of 2021 Priority Bills.

It is predicted that this bad result will be increasingly difficult to repair by the DPR considering the time is getting narrower and the burden continues to increase with the 4 new Priority Bills that are included in the 2021 priority bill list.

"Come on the Legislative Body, the PKS Bill can be drafted in Senayan, there have been many inputs from the community, why are you running abroad? Do you want to avoid the people? Do you want to step aside from your responsibility to discuss the many bills? Miss the outside air country, huh? Are you in a hurry for a trip? Oh, Baleg," Lucius quipped.

It was previously reported that the Legislative Assembly of the DPR plans to make a working visit to two countries, namely Ecuador and Brazil.

Information related to the kunker was known through a letter from the Baleg Leader with the number LG/13489/DPR RI/IX/2021.

The letter regarding the request for the names of Baleg members abroad was signed by the Head of the Legislation Body, Head of the Legislation Agency Secretariat, Widiharto, with a copy of the letter to the Baleg leadership, faction leaders, and the head of the faction secretariat.

As for the contents of the letter, it is a notification that the Legislative Assembly of the DPR will carry out a working visit abroad in the context of implementing the parliament's diplomatic function to strengthen the Baleg's institutions in the context of drafting a Bill on the Elimination of Sexual Violence.

The working visit is scheduled for 31 October to 6 November 2021 to Ecuador. While on November 16 to 22 to Brazil.

"In this regard, the leadership of the Legislative Body hopes that each faction can submit the names of the members of the Legislation Body assigned to participate in the said activity to the Secretariat of the Legislative Body in accordance with the composition," the letter said.
