Anies Reduces Formula E Implementation To 3 Years, PDIP Party: A Plan That Doesn't Use Common Sense

JAKARTA - Member of Commission B of the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD) from the PDIP Party faction, Gilbert Simanjuntak, said that the DKI Provincial Government cannot simply change the timing of Formula E, from what was originally planned to be 5 years to 3 years.

Gilbert said that this change must first get approval from the DKI DPRD. If the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan changes the timing of the implementation of Formula E without involving members of the council, then it violates Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government.

"The change to 3 years of implementation is getting clearer, that the planning of Formula E does not use common sense. This change should have been through our approval in the DPRD," Gilbert said in his statement, Thursday, September 30.

Furthermore, Gilbert also criticized Formula E which was held in multiple years or more than one year. If Anies plans to hold Formula E from 2022 to 2024, it is clear that his term of office ends in October 2022.

This also violates Government Regulation Number 12 of 2019. In this regulation, it is stated that the budgeting period for multi-year activities does not exceed the end of the year the term of office of the regional head ends unless the activity is a national priority and/or national strategic interest.

"Obviously this violates the Government regulations (PP,) and holds the next Governor and the people of DKI hostage. In fact, Formula E does not meet this requirement and is also not included in regional strategic activities," said Gilbert.

Previously, the DKI Provincial Government issued a pamphlet explaining the latest developments regarding the plan to organize Formula E in Jakarta. This is based on an agreement between Regional-owned Enterprise (BUMD) PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) and Formula E Operation (FEO).

Initially, Formula E will be held for 5 years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Formula E plan, which was originally held in 2020 for 5 times, was postponed to 2022 and its implementation was reduced to 3 years.

"Due to the pandemic, there has been a review of all Formula E collaborations in all cities. The result of the new agreement between Jakpro and FEO is that the implementation period is adjusted to 3 years, namely 2022, 2023, and 2024," wrote a statement from the DKI Provincial Government.

The DKI Provincial Government stated that three years is the right time to maximize the benefits of implementing Formula E and its economic impact.
