Doni Primanto Becomes Deputy Governor Of BI 2020-2025

JAKARTA - The DPR RI officially approved the appointment of Doni Primanto Joewono as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (DG BI) for the 2020-2025 period. Doni replaces Erwin Rijanto, whose term ends on June 16.

Chairman of Commission XI DPR RI Dito Ganinduto hopes that the top leadership of the central bank will be elected when delivering the results of the fit and proper test at the plenary meeting on Thursday, July 16.

"Commission XI DPR RI has carried out a fit and proper test process for three candidates for Deputy Governor of BI. We hope this fit and proper test process will produce a person who has high moral and moral integrity supported by expertise and experience in carrying out his duties," said Dito. quoted from the DPR website, Friday, July 17.

Based on the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law Article 41 Paragraph 1, the Deputy Governor of BI is proposed and appointed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia with the approval of the Indonesian Parliament. In accordance with these provisions, through Presidential Letter Number R-21 / Pres / 04/2020 dated April 17, 2020, 3 candidates have proposed, namely Juda Agung, Aida S. Budiman, and Doni Primanto Joewono.

In accordance with the law, the DPR RI can ask candidates to make a presentation regarding the vision and mission, experience, expertise and abilities, as well as matters relating to the morals and morals of the proposed DG BI candidate. After going through a series of tests that lasted for two days, on Tuesday-Wednesday, 7 to 8 July 2020, the Commission XI of the Indonesian Parliament held an internal meeting as a decision-making process on July 13, 2020.

"After listening to input, suggestions, and opinions from all factions, the Commission XI Internal Meeting decided by deliberation to agree that Doni Primanto Joewono will be Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia for the 2020-2025 period. Elected as the new Deputy Governor, Doni Primanto Joewono started his career at the central bank along with two other candidates, namely Juda and Aida. Before serving as Executive Director as well as Head of the Human Resources (HR) Institute, this man who was born in Surabaya on February 24, 1965 also served as the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia, West Java Province in the 2018-2020 period.
