Mass Organizations Clash In Cianjur-Sukabumi Not The First Time Happens, Police Chief Explores Motives And Chases Perpetrators

JAKARTA – This is not the first time this clash of mass organizations (community organizations) has occurred on the Sukabumi - Cianjur border, West Java. Previously clashes also occurred in the same area. Incidents that seem like an annual agenda often cause injuries to fatalities.

The clash occurred on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at around 16.00 WIB, on Jalan Lingsel in 2020, and 4 people were seriously injured. According to records compiled, the commotion started with a misunderstanding between two mass organizations in the parking lot of a mini market on the South Ring Road. From there the beatings took place until finally a mass attack.

The number of members of mass organizations involved in a commotion in the middle of the road made the police deploy hundreds of personnel. In fact, Brimob and TNI units took to the streets to secure the incident. The clashes were finally stopped after officers fired warning shots into the air. After the clashes, officers were on guard at the location to prevent mass organizations clashes from following.

Previously reported, clashes between PP organizations and Banten BPPKB occurred on Sunday, September 26. One person died as a result of the incident that occurred in Gekbrong District, on the Cianjur – Sukabumi border.

From the incident, the Cianjur Police, West Java, secured a number of evidence of sharp weapons used by dozens of members of two mass organizations involved in a brawl.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Doni Hermawan said the clash between the BPPKB mass organization and Pemuda Pancasila was the aftermath of the previous clash in Sumedang. The case of this clash is being handled by the Cianjur Police and a pursuit is being carried out for the perpetrators involved.

"The legal process is still ongoing, we will pursue the perpetrators. For now, the situation at the scene is conducive, but we ask officers to increase patrols," said Doni.
