No Debt And Involved In DAK Bribery, How Much Was Azis Syamsuddin's Salary While He Was A DPR Leader?

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, has been named a bribery suspect in the handling of the Special Allocation Fund (DAK) case in Central Lampung Regency, after being forcibly picked up by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) at his residence, Friday, September 24. Azis had failed to fulfill the KPK's summons on the grounds that he was undergoing self-isolation (isoman).

It is known, the name Azis Syamsuddin appeared in the indictment of a former KPK investigator, AKP Stapanus Pobin Pattuju. In the indictment, Azis gave money worth Rp3,099,887,000 and USD 36,000 to Stepanus Robin Pattuju in the bribery case that made the Mayor of Tanjungbalai City inactive, M Syahrial.

Azis is said to have given the money along with former chairman of the Golkar Party Youth Force (AMPG) Aliza Gunado.

In the indictment, it was also known that Azis was a bridge between the meeting of the former Kutai Kartanegara Regent, Rita Widyasari, and AKP Robin in October 2020. At Azis' house, Robin received SGD 200,000 or Rp2,137.3 million to take care of Rita Widyasari's case.

Azis Syamsuddin is also said to have contacted AKP Robin around August 2020 to take care of the case involving Azis and Aliza Gunado related to the KPK investigation in Central Lampung.

Later, Azis was called the 'Fortress' of the Golkar Party at the KPK because he was involved in 3 different cases. However, the anti-corruption agency is still investigating the allegations.

In parliament, the deputy chairman of the Golkar Party was once the chairman of Commission III of the DPR in partnership with the Corruption Eradication Commission. Before finally being elected as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam).

So, how much is Azis' salary as DPR Leader?

When referring to Government Regulation (PP) No. 75 of 2000 concerning the Basic Salary of Leaders of the Highest/Highest State Institutions and Members of State High Institutions and Honorary Money for Members of the Highest State Institutions, while serving as deputy chairman of the DPR RI, Azis Syamsuddin was paid Rp4,620,000/month.

Based on the Letter of the Minister of Finance No. S-520/MK.02/2015, the deputy chairman received an honorary allowance of IDR 6,450,000. Furthermore, the intensive communication allowance is Rp16,009,000. Then the allowance for increasing the supervisory function and budget is Rp4,500,000. There is also electricity and telephone subscription assistance for Rp7,700,000.

The vice-chairman also gets the facilities regulated in the Circular of the Secretariat General of the DPR RI: No. KU.00/9414/DPR RI/XII/2010. Members of the DPR RI concurrently vice-chairman receive a wife's attached allowance of Rp462 thousand per month, and a child's attached allowance of Rp184 thousand per month for 2 children.

There is also a trial fee/package of Rp2,000,000, a position allowance of Rp9,700,000, a rice allowance of Rp198,000, and a PPH allowance of Rp1,729,608.

Meanwhile, Azis has a total wealth of Rp100,321,069,365 (Rp100.3 billion), based on the 2020 periodic State Organizers Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted on April 22, 2021.

The total assets consisting of land and buildings are IDR 89,492,201,000, of which six are located in South Jakarta, and one is in Bandar Lampung.

He owns six motorized vehicles, namely Harley Davidson Rp170 million, Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep Rp700 million, Honda Beat Rp14 million, Toyota Kijang Innova Rp248 million, Toyota Alphard Rp780 million, and Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep Rp1.59 billion.

Furthermore, there are other movable assets of Rp274.750.000, as well as cash and cash equivalents of Rp7,052,118,365. Azis Syamsuddin is also noted to have no debt.
