SEMARANG - Another attempt to smuggle narcotics by throwing it from outside the prison walls has taken place at the Class I Prison in Semarang, Central Java.

Class I Head of Semarang Class I Supriyanto said the failed smuggling attempt was first noticed by prison officers who were conducting control around the prison area.

"Officers found brown packages around the prison walls," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, September 24.

According to Supriyanto, the package which was suspected to contain narcotics was thought to have been thrown from outside but failed to pass through the wall inside the residential block. The findings, he said, were then reported to the Ngaliyan Police.

During the examination, it was discovered, continued Supriyanto, that the package contained 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 100 Koplo pills.

The illicit goods were then handed over to the Ngaliyan Police for further investigation.

According to Supriyanto, the failure to smuggle is a form of prison's commitment to combating narcotics trafficking.
