Bobby Nasution Viral Responses Thin Tigers At Medan Zoo Eat Grass: Ibu Kahiyang Promises To Donate Meat

MEDAN - Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution responded to a video showing a thin Sumatran Tiger eating grass at the Medan Zoo.

It is known that the Medan Zoo is managed by the Medan City Development Company (PD). Bobby Nasution said he had stressed to the directors of PD Pembangunan which he had just appointed to manage Medan Zoo even better.

"But today, we know how the management is still minimal, so difficulties often occur. That's why many donate, both from CSR, like yesterday we received several kilograms of chicken meat for tiger food", said Bobby Nasution in Medan, Friday, September 24.

Bobby Nasution demanded that the new PD Pembangunan directors could improve their management to be able to meet the animal feed of Medan Zoo residents.

"He must be able to meet his own needs when he becomes an entity (business)", he said.

In addition, Bobby Nasution said his wife, Kahiyang Ayu had promised him to donate meat to feed the Tigers.

"Yesterday the mayor (Kahiyang) wanted to donate or donate meat or chicken directly. That was the mayor's promise to me yesterday", continued Bobby Nasution.

Meanwhile, the Medan Zoo veterinarian, Drh Yuna Dumaica, said that the Sumatran tiger was in a sick condition due to a stomach infection.

"The Sumatran tiger belongs to us (Medan Zoo), a few moments ago, indeed he had digestive problems, there was an infection. And from the infection (that) there were bacteria", Yuna told reporters.

Regarding his health condition, Medan Zoo has treated and treated him. So the animal is currently recovering.

"So for his diet, he was treated and given vitamins like that. Indeed, in the past few days, it just so happened that he was resting first in the cage", she explained.

Regarding tigers recorded outside the cage, Yuna said, it was part of the recovery period training.

Yuna also responded about tigers being recorded eating grass. According to her, eating grass is one way to improve digestion.

"Indeed, cats and cats are used to eating grass, to help the digestive system excrete normally, a kind of hairball or hair that is swallowed when he cleans himself", said Yuna.

She also explained that the tiger looks thin, not because of a lack of food. But during illness, these beasts have a reduced appetite.

So far, Yuna said, the need to eat the tiger has been fulfilled. Especially with a large number of donations from the public, during the pandemic.

"We (love) chicken meat, we also have additional beef or pork. If it (the total weight) is about 4 to 5 kilograms", she said.
