Azis Syamsuddin Many Called A Suspect, Golkar: Haven't Seen His Letter

JAKARTA - The Golkar Party admits that it does not know about the fast issue of the appointment of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, as a suspect in the KPK. Golkar has not seen the letter of determination and received an official letter from the KPK.

"We do not know for sure about the status of Mr. AS. Because until now I have never seen the letter of determination," said the Head of Legal and Human Rights (Bakumham) of the Golkar Party's DPP, Supriansa, to VOI, Thursday, September 23.

Supriansa also does not want to talk about the plan for legal assistance for the General Representative of the Golkar Party. What is certain is that the party wishes the best for Azis Syamsuddin (USA). "What is certain is that we at Golkar always wish the best for Mr. AS," Supriansa said.

The member of Commission III of the DPR said that Golkar would respect all legal processes at the KPK related to Azis' legal process. He also invited the public to put forward the principle of presumption of innocence before any decision from the authorities.

"Let's put forward the principle of presumption of innocence until a final legal decision is made," Supriansa explained.

Meanwhile, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still silent about Azis' status. What is certain is that the KPK will only summon Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, in the near future. The summons is related to a new investigation into the alleged bribery case related to the handling of cases in Central Lampung.

"We hope that everyone who is summoned will fulfill the summons as a form of respect for the upholding and orderliness of law and justice," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to reporters, Thursday, September 23.

Firli explained that the summons was made for the purposes of the investigation so that the allegations became clear. "We must not delay justice because delaying justice is also injustice," he stressed.
