Investigating Bribery Cases In Central Lampung Cases, KPK Has Examined Several Witnesses

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined a number of witnesses related to allegations of bribery in handling cases in Central Lampung. In addition, investigators have also collected evidence.

"The investigative team is still working and continues to collect evidence and has examined several witnesses in Jakarta, Bandung, Tangerang and Lampung," Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Thursday, September 23.

However, Ali did not mention the details of the witnesses who had been examined. Ali only said that the KPK's full statement regarding this investigation would be delivered when it carried out forced efforts in the form of arrests followed by detention.

"KPK will convey in full the chronology and construction of the case, the articles that are suspected, and of course the parties who are designated as suspects at a later time," he said.

"We will announce the suspect when there is an attempt to force the arrest and/or detention," Ali added.

The KPK, Ali said, will convey various developments in the investigation that is being carried out. "We hope that the public can also continue to monitor and supervise its handling as a form of transparency and public participation in eradicating corruption," he said.

The alleged bribery in handling the Central Lampung case emerged when the name of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, was mentioned in the indictment of a former KPK investigator who brokered the Stepanus Robin Pattuju case.

In the indictment, Azis and Aliza are said to have given Rp3,099 billion and US$36 thousand. The gift is intended to deal with the bribery case in Central Lampung which is being handled by the KPK.

In addition to this case, the name of this Golkar Party politician is also implicated for his role in introducing Stepanus to the former Kutai Regent Kertanegara Rita Widyasari and the inactive Tanjungbalai Mayor M Syahrial. From that introduction, both of them asked for help from the former police investigator to take care of the case that ensnared them and is being investigated by the KPK.
