MAKASSAR - Makassar Polrestabes investigators, South Sulawesi, have scheduled an examination of a programm or influencer with the initials DM regarding his alleged involvement in the social gathering fraud case as well as online fraudulent investment.

"We have summoned the reported initial DM and will conduct an examination of the alleged perpetrator," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Makassar Police, Commissioner Jamal Fathur Rakhman, quoted by Antara, Thursday, September 23.

The call for the DM program, he said, was related to his alleged involvement in promoting the fake social gathering on social media to attract potential victims.

Based on the statements of the three suspects who have been detained, it was stated that DM was involved in the alleged fraud case to promote on social media Instagram.

"According to the statements of the suspects, the person concerned (DM) is an influencer or celebrity. He endorsed the online fake social gathering," he explained.

It is planned that the DM examination will be carried out today as a witness, but the person concerned is still unable to attend so a second summons will be sent. If the two summons are not fulfilled, a forced summons will be made.

Previously, three perpetrators of social gathering fraud with online fraudulent investments were named as suspects, two women with the initials JD 20 years old, MD 22 years old, and man AR 22 years old.

For each role, JD alias Puput is the brain and owner of the arisan, while MD is an admin on Instagram social media called 'Arisan Amanah', and AR is JD's girlfriend as the owner of the traffic control account for the disbursement of the arisan money.

The three suspects were subjected to multiple layers of articles, namely the ITE Law and the Criminal Code on Fraud and Embezzlement Article 378 and Article 372 with a penalty of six years in prison.

From the results of the examination, it was recorded that there were more than 300 members or members who participated in the social gathering accompanied by the fraudulent investment. Losses are estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah obtained from the victims.
